Larry's Story

School: School was interesting for me. It was a place I couldn't wait to get out of. Today, I tell kids: Don't be in a Hurry! School is a time when you get to have fun, spend your days learning and creating memories. After school, it's mostly Work, Work, Work and some play. One the of funniest Year Book photos (of me) was the one where someone caught me coming out the Front Door of the school. I don't think I walked out that door more than twice in 4 years! I was usually sneaking out the back or side. Still don't know how they got that. Some of you might not know this, but in '83 I built the Float for Homecoming. It was destroyed the night before, during the Hypnotisms Show. (remember the one where someones Mom regressed into another language!!! Freaky) Well, I dragged it home and my brother and I spent all night rebuilding it for the Parade the next day. It was during the Parade around the football field that they held the Costume Show while we were driving around the field and one of our classmates accidentally walked into the path of the pull car (the Black Firebird) Since we had people on the float we couldn't simply slam on the brakes and we ended up hitting him. I think he won the contest though! :) Now that I am older I realize how important school is, and other than wishing I had pursued my dream to become an Architect, I now think I would have been a great teacher as well. I really like the Summer's Off deal too! It is ironic that the teacher who inspired me most was one that I really didn't get along with until senior year. Mr. Shapiro the History Teacher. For some reason we always butted heads from 7th grade on, but in my senior year he really showed me that I had so many possibilities ahead of me and taught me to go after my passion. Work: In 1983 I was to head out to California after graduation with my '66 Mustang I restored. Remember that one. Did most of the work in the shop class. A sudden vacancy at my Dad's busines...Expand for more
s postponed that when he need my help in running the Drafting Department while they searched for a replacement. I ended up staying for 12 years! Taking over the day to day operations and eventually guiding them into a new direction for their retirement. Funny how life is. In '95 I helped a friend open Biancaccino's. Yorktown's FIRST Coffee House. I ran into a few of you there. If you had the opportunity to stop in. That was my work. I designed it and built a lot of it myself. From there I took a break and traveled the country on my bike. Upon my return I went to work for Starbucks in Manhattan. After a year and an armed robbery, I realized that I wanted to get back into my own business and left to open an Excavating Business. From 1999 to 2002 I owned and operated a Site Development Company and was also a dealer for Apex Modular Homes. A motorcycle accident forced me to dissolve that business in 2002. While I was recovering I got my Real Estate license and started selling Real Estate. It was there that I started to get many requests from people to help them fix up their homes prior to putting them on the market. I relaunched my Construction business and merged the Real Estate and Construction into a new venture, Property Management. I then earned my Brokers License and in July '06, launched my own Real Estate Company. St. Lawrence Properties now handles the Real Estate and Property Management duties and LNG Contracting is handling the construction end. I now beat her out by one! My Motto; Do what you love, Leave when you don't. Military?? I never joined the military though I was engaged to an girl from the Air force for a brief time. A 12 year friendship turned into a very brief, 6 month engagement! She went back to Tennessee and I stayed in NY.
